Creating a Doctor from the PrescribeIT® Provider Registry

When searching for a PrescribeIT® doctor that does not exist in PharmaClik Rx, you can create a new doctor record directly from the PrescribeIT® Provider Registry.

To create a new doctor record from the Provider Registry:

  1. Search for and select a doctor by doing one of the following:
    • Select the Doctor button; or
    • When processing a new order from the New Prescription window, select the expand icon next to the Doctor field. The Doctor folder opens.
      1. Select the Search button.
    • Result: The Doctor Search window opens.

  2. Type full or partial information in any of the fields (Last Name, First, Phone, Address, Doctor ID, License #, or Prescriber Type).
  3. Select Search.
  4. If no matching doctor records display in the search results, select the PrescribeIT®button.

    The PrescribeIT® Provider Registry Search window opens and the search criteria entered in Step 2 is maintained in this window.
  5. Note: The PrescribeIT® button will be only be active after performing a local doctor search.

  6. Type/select full or partial information in any of the following fields and include as much information as possible:
  7. Note:  A minimum of two characters must be specified for the Last Name, First, Address, and City fields.

    • Last Name
    • First (name)
    • Note: Currently, there is an issue causing users to input a minimum of three characters (instead of two) in the First (name) field. If the Doctor's first name is less than three characters, specify search criteria in the Last Name, Province, and City fields instead to find a match.

    • Phone: Number must be ten digits if entered. However, it is not recommended to use a phone number as a search criteria.
    • Address
    • City
    • Province: Pharmacy's province is populated by default. Users can select a different province if required. This field is optional and should only be used if the clinic or office location is known.
    • Postal Code: A minimum of three starting characters must be specified for the Postal Code.
    • LN #: License Number.
    • Practitioner Identifier: The practitioner’s licensing body (e.g. Dental Surgeons of Ontario).

      Note: If the search is not specific enough, it may return more than 100 matches and you will see the following prompt. Refine your search and try again.

  8. If search results are returned, select the corresponding doctor and select OK.
  9. Result: The doctor information from the Provider Registry populates into a new doctor record in PharmaClik Rx.

  10. Select the Save button.
  11. Result: A new doctor record in PharmaClik Rx is created and saved based on the doctor information from the PrescribeIT® Provider Registry. The green PrescribeIT® icon will also appear at the top left of the record. You can update any other fields in the Doctor folder as required.
